La Sociedad de Críticos de Detroit (DFCS, 2007) ha apostado, como la gran mayoría de homólogas, por Boyhood, a la que le ha otorgado los premios principales. Sin embargo, resalta que en la sección de mejor reparto hayan premiado a tres películas —entre ellas Guardianes de la galaxia— y no se encuentre el filme de Linklater entre ellas. Incongruencias de una larga temporada.
